Alaska Is One of The Worlds Most Toured Regions

Recent studies have showed that Alaska is one of the most sought after regions for tourism. Last year the cuising industry had a pass drug test monumental year andthe cashflowthat the local communities took in was also a record.

The cruise Alaskaindustry has overall been very responsiblewith their evironmental track record althought there has been some flack fromthe knee jerk environmental crowd.

Local fishing experts would like to see a totally wildpolicy laptop battery thatwould ensure the people benefiting from the use of Alaskan waters would also useAlaska line caught salmon on their menus. The initial reaction from the cruise industry was less than exciting however there are now cruise lines that are using all Alaskan caught fresh Salmon and Halibut. There seems to be a compromise now between the two but while cruising Alaska its best to ask the waiters and waitresses whether or not your salmon is wild or farmed..

Just say no to drugs.. Dont eat farmed fish!

adn.com | outdoors : Fly-tying class casts off the preseason blues: "Fly-tying class casts off the preseason blues WASILLA: Three Rivers Fly & Tackle offers lessons for those ready for new angle on fishing. By RON WILMOT Anchorage Daily News Published: March 27th, 2005 Last Modified: March 27th, 2005 at 04:30 AM They are tiny works of art to be admired, but they have a purpose: to imitate nature and fool fish. And therein lies the appeal of tying feather and hair onto sharpened hooks -- it's particularly satisfying to catch fish on something you created. Tying flies is a Zen experience for some, a fun, calming craft to pass the winter and spark thoughts of warmer days, feeding trout and feisty salmon. 'It's a nice thing to do when you're sitting around the house and it's 30 below,' said Tom Cloninger of Three Rivers Fly and Tackle shop in Wasilla. 'You don't feel so bad about watching TV if you're tying flies.' Cloninger teaches a fly-tying class at Three Rivers Fly & Tackle in Wasilla, and several nights last week he taught a group of seven how to tie some of Alaska's most popular patterns: Iliamna Pinkies, Lake Leeches, Woolly Buggers, Egg-sucking Leeches and Coho Flies." Check Out This King Salmon Caught On A Charter!

Take a look at this freakin' huge King Salmon! Here's some more info about this fish: Resurrecting the search for salmon Trolling winter seas off Kenai Fjords has fishermen

EWARD -- Pam Link stepped out of the charter boat's heated cabin, pulling on gloves, hat and heavy jacket as the boat slowed into the fishing grounds. The last time Link went salmon fishing on Resurrection Bay, it was T-shirt weather. That was more than six months ago.

March may hold new promise for fresh king salmon, but not for short sleeves.

This was Link's first time fishing for winter kings. Last year she started fishing in April, but she couldn't wait that long this year.

"I needed to get my water fix," said the Anchorage resident.

The crew baited hooks with herring as the early-morning sun melted frozen dewdrops on the boat's rails. After a two-hour, predawn drive from Anchorage and a one-hour boat ride to the fishing grounds, Link fidgeted on deck, shuffling her feet and twiddling her gloved fingers as she waited the final few minutes.

adn.com | outdoors : Troopers catch and release fishermen

This is why you need to check the fishing regs EVERY YEAR here in Alaska, what was legal last year might not be legal THIS year. If you are cruising Alaska this year keep this in mind so that you avoid a $110 ticket.. Click the title of this post for the rest of the article.. Peace, EJ adn.com | outdoors : Troopers catch and release fishermen: "Troopers catch and release fishermen TICKETS: State bans bait, treble hooks on Big Lake in winter to protect arctic char. By ZAZ HOLLANDER Anchorage Daily News Published: March 16th, 2005 Last Modified: March 16th, 2005 at 03:36 AM WASILLA -- John Fruzen forgot to pick up a copy of the state's Southcentral angling regulations before heading out to his ice-fishing shanty off Big Lake's north shore in late January. So instead of relaxing with a line lowered beneath the ice, Fruzen ended up with a $110 ticket for violating a state ban on bait fishing on the lake in winter. 'It was my fault,' Fruzen said by phone from his Big Lake home and trucking business. 'I didn't have a copy of the regs. I was going to stop that morning, and I spaced it.' Alaska State Troopers have cited more than two dozen Alaskans in the Big Lake area this winter for the same crime -- violating ice-fishing regulations." posted by EJ Lear @ 4:38 PM 0 comments

We've got some really great fishing stories as well as some bear stories (you don't have that problem "down south") do ya? Oh sorry, my bust, here's the definition for that term. Down South- anywhere south of Alaska, used by Alaskans to describe the 48 contiguous United States.
